Greenflash 2010 Barleywine Revisited

January 30, 2012

Overall Grade:B+
Taste:B+
Drinkability:C
Aroma:C+

Green Flash Barleywine aged one year.

The finish is leaps and bounds better than the unaged version. You don't get the high-alcohol taste from before and it's not as syrupy and dense as it was at first. The up-front taste still yields high-alcohol and almost a sugary sweetness before transitioning to a rich dose of hops.

Very sweet, rich and hoppy aroma. Smells a bit like molasses and brown sugar.

It doesn't taste like a 10% ABVer anymore. It's pretty drinkable for a Barleywine but with plenty of kick. I'll be back for more next year, but next time I'll be aging it all.
