Russian River Supplication

February 24, 2013

Overall Grade:A+

Sour enough that you need to take 3-4 sips before you can enjoy it to the fullest. Like many world class beers, Supplication has an outstanding finish. It quickly transforms from almost startlingly sour to lingering cherry smoothness -- champagne-esque. The yeast blend highlights the upfront flavor.

Brown ale gone sour, in a good way, Supplication can be hard to find but it's one of the best sour ales I've ever tasted.

Rich cherry aroma. It's a telling, exciting aroma. You can easily smell the yeast, pinot noir and cherries. It smells more like wine than beer. I haven't smelled many beers are so distinct, memorable and delightful.
