Brouwerij West Dog Ate My Homework

August 23, 2013

Overall Grade:A-

Only mildly sweet and tart, this ale with blackberries hints at musty, yeasty fruit.

The aroma is bready and crisp and reveals only small amounts of blackberry.

The mouthfeel is dry and extremely carbonated. The blackberry is only somewhat present; subtle but prominent enough. Definitely wouldn't peg this as a fruit beer, though. The aftertaste is a little rubbery. As it warms to room temperature, the flavor resembles a juicy red wine.

The overall profile hints at belgian brewing methods. It's a good beer, but not one I'd rush out to purchase again. Definitely worth a try, though.
